Shen Chang-Ming

Shen Chang-Ming(B.1956-),who was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has studied the painting skill since he was a child. After years of painting, he paints like a natural. Shen Chang-Ming is a devout Buddhist. During the hard time when his son died in his middle age, he can only get through it by handwriting the Heart Sutra every day. Accordingly, it becomes the enlightenment of his new form of presenting art.

Shen Chang-Ming applies the sand to his work that also means“to see a world in a grain of sand”. Moreover, “sand" is the smallest granule that eyes can see, so it represents the “quantum" in the universe. He found that it express the similar philosophy as the Heart Sutra which was been published 2000 years ago. In 2009, he creates the mixed-media paintings that elaborate the concept. The artworks are describing a harmony way of life and the balance. The appearance of everything is a media, the importance is what are you believe in. When we see the artworks again from Left to right or see in contrast, we can learn is to listen to universe and seeing the life.
